Fuentes de Invierno Nighttime Snowshoe Tour
We'll meet at the La Braña restaurant in the town of La Raya. We'll get our equipment and headlamps on and start an incredible nighttime snowshoe tour around the Fuentes de Invierno ski resort.
Depending on the weather, we'll walk around the base of either Torres Peak or Ausente Peak. During our 3 mile (5 kilometre) route, the night sky will begin to envelop us as we ascend the slopes of the Asturian mountains. We'll soon come across thickets and forests of birch and beech trees in a magical white winter wonderland.
We'll also observe the stars up in the sky and keep our eyes peeled for the most famous constellations. Look out for the Big and Little Dippers! As we walk through the Cantabrian Mountains, we'll also learn some facts about the science behind how snow and snowflakes are formed.
After touring this enchanting setting, we'll return to the starting point to finish two and a half hours later.
