La Paz Walking Tour
Description
We'll meet at the designated time at the at The Steakhouse on Calle Murillo, in the heart of La Paz. From here, we'll set off on an alternative route to the usual tourist routes, visiting places frequented by the locals of the Bolivian capital.
For an authentic experience in the city, we'll take public transport (bus, microbus, or cable car) to the different stops on the tour like true "paceños". Our first stop will be the Cementerio General, an enormous cemetery with a fascinating history and the resting place of many important historical figures.
Next, we'll take the cable car up to El Alto to admire the city from 2.5 miles (4,000 meters) above sea level on the Altiplano plateau! We'll also visit the witches' market, and you can get your fortune told with coca leaves by a local yatiri (shaman)!
Afterwards, we'll head to the El Alto viewpoint to end the day with an unbeatable view of the valley of La Paz and the snow-capped Illimani Mountain in the background.
At the end of the 3-hour tour, we'll head back to the starting point, where we'll enjoy a typical drink at the Sol y Luna Café.
