Uyuni & Death Road 5 Day Trip
Description
Day 1: La Paz - Death Road - La Paz - Uyuni
Off we go! We'll pick you up from your hotel in La Paz between 7:30 am and 8 am and drive our bus to Death Road, one of the most famous and dangerous routes in Bolivia and the world.
When we arrive at a spot called La Cumbre, which is 15,400 feet (4,700 metres) above sea level, we'll hop on our bikes. We'll cycle along steep roads, past breathtaking viewpoints and through rocky paths full of waterfalls.
After this exciting ride, we'll return to La Paz and start the second part of our 5-day trip. We'll board a bus and spend the night travelling to Uyuni.
Day 2: Uyuni
At 7 am, we'll arrive in Uyuni and have breakfast in a cafeteria. Feeling energised, we'll hop into a jeep and head to the famous Uyuni Salt Flat. Before we arrive, we'll make a stop at the train cemetery, which is the perfect place to take some one-of-a-kind photos.
Our next stop will be at the Colchani, a salt iodization plant where we'll learn about the different methods used in the process of salt extraction. We'll then arrive at the beautiful Uyuni Salt Flat, which is one of the most beautiful salt flats in Bolivia.
Afterwards, we'll head over to the Dakar monument, a symbol of this salt desert since the most famous rally in the world set foot on Bolivian soil in 2014. We'll also visit the Playa Blanca salt hostel, built from salt and decorated entirely with salt furniture.
To round off the day, we'll visit Incahuasi Island. This island is in the central part of the salt flat and is well-known for its enormous cactus. While we're here, we'll watch a magical sunset over the Uyuni Salt Flat. Our day will finish at the hostel in Uyuni.
Day 3: Uyuni - Huayllajara
Rise and shine! We'll have breakfast at the hostel and then head to the Red Lagoon. During the journey, we'll pass by fascinating places such as the Cañapa, Hedionda and Chiacorta lagoons, the Siloli Desert and the Stone Tree, a natural monument with a very curious shape.
We'll have some lunch at the Paso del Inca and, at 4 pm, we'll arrive at the Red Lagoon. You'll be able to take lots of photos of its most famous residents - the flamingos! We'll then go to a hostel in the community of Huayllajara, where we'll spend the night.
Day 4: Huayllajara - Salvador Dalí Desert - Uyuni - La Paz
Having gotten ready and had breakfast, we'll visit the Sol de Mañana to learn about its significant volcanic activity. After admiring its fumaroles and geysers, we'll head to the Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve. We'll stop at the Chalviri Hot Springs, where you can take a relaxing dip.
Next, we'll take you to the Salvador Dalí Desert. Let's see if it's as surreal as the masterpieces by this Catalan artist! We'll also pass by the viewpoints of the Verde and Blanca lagoons and the Lincancabur Volcano, which sits on the Chilean border.
We'll return to Uyuni, where the bus will be waiting to take us back to La Paz.
Day 5: La Paz
After spending the night travelling, we'll arrive back in La Paz at 6:30 am.
