La Orotava Banana Plantation Tour
At your chosen time, we'll meet at the organic Canary Island banana plantation on El Rincón road, located in the municipality of La Orotava. From this spot in Northern Tenerife, you'll also enjoy incredible views of Mount Teide.
Our visit will begin with a walk around the grounds while we explain the plantation's origins. As we look at the banana trees, we'll tell you about all the steps involved in the banana production process, from gestation to commercialisation.
We'll explain the unique characteristics of the Canary Island banana, the only variety of banana that has achieved the Protected Geographical Indication seal. Did you know that this product takes three months longer to ripen than American bananas? Hence its intense and delicious flavour, plus the high nutrient and vitamin content.
In addition, as we are on an ecological farm, we'll tell you about this land's thriving ecosystem. This ecosystem includes insects that combat pests, grains to keep the soil healthy, and birds that provide fertiliser - each element playing a crucial role.
At the end of our walk, we'll enjoy a tasting of Canary Island bananas and a delicious shot made from the fruit.
After a 50 minute visit, we'll say our goodbyes outside the plantation.
