Tarma & Chanchamayo Waterfalls Excursion
Tarma & Chanchamayo Waterfalls Excursion
We'll pick you up at your hotel in La Merced at 8 am to take a tour around the province of Chanchamayo.
We'll start by visiting the most beautiful waterfalls in this area of Peru. First, we'll see the Velo de la Novia de Pan de Azúcar waterfall, so called to distinguish it from a waterfall of the same name located in the Perené Valley. Afterward, we'll pass through La Virgen tunnel, known as the 'golden door' to the central jungle, to reach the Ducha del Diablo waterfall.
Next, we'll visit the Yanango and Carpapata viewpoints, from which we'll have magnificent views of the highlands and the Peruvian jungle - the perfect place to admire the great diversity of the Amazonian landscape!
Then we'll go to Acobamba, located in the province of Tarma. Here we'll visit the National Sanctuary of Muruhuay, dedicated to the Lord of Muruhuay, the same name given to the image of Jesus Christ on a cross painted on a rock.
From there we'll go to see the Huagapo Cave, one of the deepest in South America. Here we'll marvel at its stalactite and stalagmite formations and we'll tell you the origin of its name, which in Quechua means "tears of the mighty."
Afterward, we'll return to Muruhay and give you free time for lunch. Lastly, we'll head to the picturesque city of Tarma, also known as the Pearl of the Andes. In Tarma we'll go on a guided tour through its streets full of colonial houses, passing by the Plaza de Armas and the Odria Museum.
After the tour of Tarma, we will return to La Merced and drop you off at your hotel, after a nine-hour excursion.
