Rainforest Farm Organic Coffee Tour

Did you know that the most expensive coffee in the world comes from the stomach of a mammal? I'm sure you were surprised by this fact. And no wonder, given that Misha coffee can cost more than 1000 dollars per kilo.

To learn this and lots more interesting facts about coffee, we'll pick you up at your hotel in La Merced at 8 am to go to the Rainforest farm, one of the main centres of organic coffee production in the province of Chanchamayo. Upon arrival, we'll be welcomed with a hot cup of coffee or an ice cream.

On this tour we'll discover how the exclusive Misha coffee is made. The beans are ingested by an animal called a coati or mishasho, mixed with the fruits that this small mammal stores in its stomach and then leave with its excrement converted into a delicious coffee for which some are willing to pay up to 75 dollars per cup!

We'll also visit the Misha Conservation Centre, where we'll learn about the delicate care given to the coatis so that they are able to produce this coveted type of coffee. We'll also see the method of compost production with which the coffee crops are treated.

Then we'll break for lunch, including a starter, a main course and a drink, and continue to visit the organic coffee, pineapple and medicinal plant crops on the farm.

Finally, we'll return to La Merced and drop you off at your hotel at around 6 pm.
