Perené Valley & Chanchamayo Waterfalls Excursion
Perené Valley & Chanchamayo Waterfalls Excursion
We'll pick you up at 9 am at your hotel to embark on an excursion to the Perené Valley. First, we'll make a brief stop at the Kimiri Suspension Bridge, just outside of La Merced. It's the oldest one in the entire province of Chanchamayo!
Then, we'll cross the Perené Valley and learn about the legend that gives name to the hills of this place. During the trip, we'll see orange groves and stop at the Villa Progreso viewpoint to check out the amazing view of the convergence of the Chanchamayo and Paucartambo rivers, which form the Perené riverbed. The water of these rivers comes directly from the thaws of the Huaytapallana Mountains!
Next, we'll visit an Indigenous Asháninca community, where we'll learn about the customs and the traditional handicrafts of this Amazonian culture. The next stop on our tour will be in the town of Yurinaki, where we'll have some free time for lunch.
After refueling, we'll continue our excursion to the most famous waterfalls of Chanchamayo: Bayoz and Velo de la Novia (Bride's Veil), falls that are over 100 meters high! On the way back from admiring these towering falls, we'll make a short visit to the Highland Coffee factory to learn about coffee production. After all, La Merced is known as the coffee capital of Peru!
Finally, after a nine-hour tour, we'll drop you off at your hotel in La Merced.
