Fortuna River Waterfall Excursion
We'll pick you up at your hotel in La Fortuna at the indicated time to begin our excursion. After about a five-minute drive, we'll arrive at the Fortuna River Waterfall Reserve, where we'll embark on an unforgettable three-hour hike.
This breathtaking reserve is located in a natural area managed by the Integral Development Association of La Fortuna, whose main objective is to raise funds to invest back into the local community. The tropical forest that is home to the Fortuna River Waterfall forms part of the Arenal Volcano National Park and occupies a whopping 210 acres.
Once we arrive at the reserve, we'll make a stop to visit the viewpoint and take pictures of this idyllic setting. Then, we'll make our way down a path formed by about 500 steps that end at the base of the Fortuna River Waterfall. If we're lucky, we'll even be able to spot some of the animals native to the area such as toucans, oropendolas and butterflies!
From the base of the waterfall, we'll admire the dramatic 230-foot drop and take a refreshing swim in the crystal clear waters that come from the mountains of the Children's Eternal Rainforest. Don't forget your swimsuit!
After taking a dip, we'll make our way back up the path until we reach the top, where a delicious snack of fresh fruit awaits. Following this break, we'll conclude the excursion by taking you back to your hotel in La Fortuna.
