Hule Lagoon Volcanic Crater Trek
Hule Lagoon Volcanic Crater Trek
Our day will begin with a pick up from your hotel in La Fortuna at 7:30 am. We will travel by bus for an hour and a half through the picturesque San Carlos Plains and the stunning Juan Castro Blanco National Park until we reach the town where the famous Laguna de Hule is located.
This magnificent, huge lagoon is located at the base of the Congo Volcano. Formed by paths of clay and volcanic rock, it is the ideal place to go hiking and observe its variety of landscapes. We will launch ourselves into the adventure by first heading through the grasslands that surround the volcanic cauldron, then descending into the lush green forest area. During this 5-mile route, we will see the three volcanic lakes which originally formed the crater of the volcano.
This 3-hour walk will leave us feeling hungry, so we will go to the home of a local Rican family who will prepare an authentic traditional lunch for us. After this wonderful experience with the local culture and gastronomy, we will return to your hotel in La Fortuna, arriving at around 4:30 pm
