Inagua Natural Reserve Hike
Description
At 8 am, we'll meet at avenida San Nicolás in La Aldea de San Nicolás. There, we'll get into a taxi and head to Degollada de Tasarte, which is a 20-minute drive away. From here, we'll set off on a hiking route through the Inagua Natural Reserve.
We'll start walking along our route, which will eventually bring us to see the high walls of the ancient volcano that gave birth to the island of Gran Canaria, an area that is 14.5 million years old!
Shortly, we'll enter the Inagua Natural Reserve, home to one of the best-preserved natural pine forests on the island. We'll see lots of the fascinating biodiversity of the Canary Islands and discover how these trees serve as a refuge for birds such as the blue chaffinch, blue tits and woodpeckers.
During the trekking route, we'll reach an altitude 1000 metres (3280 feet) high and enjoy incredible views of the massifs of the west of Gran Canaria and the Caldera de Tejeda. If it's a clear day, you'll also be able to see the island of Tenerife and the silhouette of the Teide, which will make you fall in love!
As we start the descent to La Aldea de San Nicolás, we'll talk about the native peoples of the Canary Islands and how the so-called Guanches lived in these lands.
We'll arrive back at the starting point at around 2 pm, where we'll conclude the activity.
