Nishiki Market Food Tour
We'll meet at 9:30 am by the statue of Izumo-no-Okuni at Gion Station-Shijō, ready to discover Kyoto's most typical delicacies and explore its charming streets.
Crossing over the Kamo River, we'll take a stroll through Ponto-chō which, like the famous Gion district, is known for its geisha houses. We'll learn all about the history of these streets, where traditional architecture and entertainment has been preserved since the 17th century.
We'll then reach Nishiki Market, where up to five tastings of typical Kyoto delicacies await us - hope you're hungry! Sweet dumplings, octopus, matcha ice cream, tamagoyaki... there's something for everyone.
The market, which has over 400 years of history, is known to locals as "Kyoto's pantry". Discover the different ingredients used in local recipes and indulge your tastebuds in traditional treats as we explore its many food stalls.
Our tour will come to an end outside Nishiki Market at 11:30 am.
