Day Trip Details
At the designated time we'll meet at Kyoto-Hachijoguchi Station. From there we'll head to Nara, which was the capital of Japan during the Middle Ages, making it one of the country's most traditional cities.
Once in Nara, we'll start by visiting Tōdai-ji Temple, where we'll dedicate about 40 minutes to admiring its iconic Great Buddha. Fun fact: it's the largest wooden statue in the world!
Next, we'll head to Nara Park, where we'll see its characteristic sika deer peacefully grazing throughout this green space. Afterward, we'll spend about 30 minutes at the Kasuga Taisha Shinto shrine, famous for its numerous bronze and stone lanterns. It's undoubtedly one of the most historic places in Nara - you'll love it!
We'll then leave Nara behind and make our way to Uji, an area famous for its matcha tea production. Once we arrive, you'll have 45 minutes of free time to grab yourself a bite to eat at a local restaurant. Having re-energised, we'll go on a tour of Uji to visit the Byodoin Temple, considered one of Kyoto's oldest monuments.
To top off the day, we'll participate in a matcha tea workshop, where we'll learn all about the properties of this product, as well as the secrets behind its ceremony. Of course, we’ll also savour its delicious flavor.
Finally, we'll return to Kyoto and drop you off at the starting point about 8 hours after the start of the day trip.
