On this night tour of Gion, we'll discover the magic of Kyoto's historic geisha district with its charming wooden houses as night falls.
Description
At the indicated time, we'll meet at the corner of Kawaramachi Garden to begin our night tour of Gion, the geisha quarter of Kyoto. It's a truly unique place!
We'll enter the most authentic district of the country, where we'll be welcomed by little typical Japanese lanterns. Have you ever wondered what the letters inscribed on them mean? We'll learn all about the culture and the streets of Gion.
Next, we'll walk along the district's busiest and most hidden streets, such as the carefully preserved historic Hanamikoji Street. It will be enchanting to see the traditional wooden houses illuminated with their dim lights. We'll also pass by iconic places of worship, such as Yasaka Shrine.
On our way, we'll see more than one maiko, also called geikos, the apprentice geishas, as we admire the symbolism and colours of their clothing!
Finally, we'll conclude our night tour at Sanjō Ōhashi Bridge after 3 hours.
