At 9 am, we'll meet at the port of Kusadasi to begin a walking tour that will take us to explore the main charms of this spa town in the province of Aydın.
First, we'll start by admiring the exterior of the Öküz Mehmed Pasha Caravanserai, an excellent example of Ottoman architecture in Kusadasi. You'll learn what exactly are caravanserais and their role in the trade routes of ancient times. Today, this caravanserai has been converted into a hotel and has even hosted former U.S. President Jimmy Carter!
Afterwards, we'll head to the island of Güvercinada, which is connected to the mainland by a footbridge. Here, we'll see an ancient castle whose defensive walls surround the entire island. These walls, which are almost 3 meters high, were instrumental in preventing attacks during a Greek revolt in the 18th century.
We'll continue learning about the history of Kusadasi and the famous people who have passed through this Turkish city as we go towards the Grand Bazaar. Here is the perfect spot to buy a souvenir!
Finally, we'll conclude the tour of Kusadasi back at the port between 11:30 am and 12 pm.
