Description
At the designated time, we'll meet up at the port of Kristiansand, ready to embark on a journey through time to explore the history and prominent landmarks of this charming city in southern Norway.
Did you know that Kristiansand got its name from the Danish King Christian IV? We'll delve into the 17th century to uncover this intriguing history. Since then, Kristiansand has played a pivotal role in the region's trade, which we'll witness by admiring the exterior of the city's fortress.
Like many Norwegian towns, the fish market holds great significance in the heart of the historic center. Its vibrant colors and wooden structure will instantly captivate you.
We'll continue our stroll along the marina, wander alongside the banks of the river Otra, and venture into the picturesque Posebyen district. This area boasts one of the largest concentrations of old houses in Scandinavia and is one of the few areas that survived a devastating fire that ravaged the city in the 19th century.
Before bidding farewell, we'll pass by the magnificent Kristiansand Cathedral. After 2.5 hours of immersive exploration, we can part ways in the center of Kristiansand or return together to our starting point, whichever you prefer.
