Walk into the depths of Krakow on a 1.5-hour guided tour of Rynek Underground Museum accompanied by a professional English-speaking guide, and discover the medieval market stalls and the city’s rich history.
Description
We'll meet in Market Square at the indicated time, in the heart of Krakow. From there, we'll explore the city's rich history, spanning 800 years of significant events, from prosperous commercial exchanges to grand royal parades.
First up, we'll explore the square before walking down the steps into Rynek Underground Museum and go back in time to discover Krakow’s eventful history. We'll go 4 meters (13 feet) underground and reach the same level as the cobblestone streets of 12th and 13th-century Krakow. We'll discover why these streets are so far underground and what secrets lie behind the first traders who set up shop down here.
In the mysterious atmosphere of the subway museum, we'll leave behind present-day Krakow and travel more than 1,000 years into the past. Built directly on the ruins of the oldest settlements in the area, the Rynek Underground Museum will give us an insight into the historical buildings and way of life of the first inhabitants of Krakow.
Throughout our guided tour of the Rynek Underground, our guide will reveal what Krakow was like during the Middle Ages while you wander through the underground route. We'll watch interesting videos about how the city has developed and admire the excavated remains of numerous buildings, monuments, and even a cemetery, which has skeletons!
Then, after 2 hours of exploring what lies underneath the city of Krakow, we'll come back up to street level. Here, we'll bring the tour to an end after discovering old Krakow.
