After being picked up at Kochi port, you'll embark on a one hour and 45 minute drive on a comfortable air-conditioned bus to Alappuzha, also known as Alleppey. Here you'll climb aboard a houseboat and begin your adventure through the Keralan backwaters.
As you cruise slowly on your covered houseboat, admire the area's luscious waterfront vegetation. You'll be captivated by the picturesque rice paddies, coconut palms and traditional wooden houseboats: unforgettable views that you'll have plenty of time to photograph too.
During your cruise, you'll enjoy a traditional Keralan meal on board, including rice, chicken, fish, salad, vegetables and poppadums. After two hours of sailing through the beautiful exotic scenery, you'll disembark your houseboat, ready to be driven to the Fort Kochi area, the historic and monumental heart of Kerala.
At Fort Kochi, learn all about the history of the region, especially famous for its enormous ancient Chinese fishing nets, the like of which have been used for centuries to supply the city's fresh fish.
Finally, after a magical day packed full of fascinating history and beautiful sights, you'll be taken back to Kochi port by bus to head back aboard your cruise ship.
