Day Trip to Charles Town
Day Trip to Charles Town
We’ll come and pick you up from your hotel from 10 am, and we’ll then leave the Jamaican capital behind, heading to the north of the island.
After an hour and a half, we’ll reach Charles Town, home to one of the country’s largest Maroon communities. Once there, we’ll visit the Maroon Museum, where you'll discover all about the history of this community and their fight for freedom.
The Maroons are a community of people that were originally brought from Africa as slaves in the 18th century and they also fought for Jamaican independence. These days they declare themselves to be independent communities of ex-runaway slaves.
As we explore Charles Town, you’ll be able to see locals performing traditional songs and dances; an authentic experience like no other!
Next, we’ll head to Buff Bay River where you can take a dip in the water to cool off, and then we'll go to a nearby restaurant where you can enjoy delicious local cuisine (lunch not included).
After lunch, we’ll make our way back to Kingston, and we’ll drop you back at your hotel at around 3 pm.
Not Staying in Kingston?
If you prefer, we also offer this trip to Charles Town from Runaway Bay and Ocho Rios.
