In November 1946, Harry S. Truman visited Key West and became captivated by a manor house with a white façade. It would later become known as the Little White House, a property that the American president loved so much that he made it his go-to place to rest.
The Little White House has special relevance in the history of the United States. It was built in 1890 as the headquarters of the command of the Naval Base and, in 1918, Thomas Edison stayed here while working on the invention of new war machines.
Today, the complex has been converted into a museum under the name Truman Little White House, in honor of the president's love for this residence located in the westernmost part of Key West.
