Jasna Gorá Monastery (5 hours)
This day trip will take us to the Jasna Góra Monastery in the town of Częstochowa. This Baroque abbey is one of the most important places of pilgrimage in Poland, due to the Black Madonna of Częstochowa.
We'll discuss the fascinating history of this place, which witnessed the incredible victory of the Poles over the Swedes, whose army was 10 times that of the Polish, in 1655. In addition, we'll visit the Basilica of the Black Madonna Shrine, see the exhibition dedicated to the Monastery's 600th anniversary and visit the Armoury and the Treasury.
Ogrodzieniec Castle & Błędów Desert (4 hours)
You'll explore the beautiful ruins of Ogrodzieniec Castle, a 14th-century fortress that belonged to the Włodek Sulima family. This castle is located on the Eagle's Nest trail and is considered one of the most beautiful castles in Poland. You may also recognise this Gothic castle from The Witcher, as it was used as a filming location for this popular TV series.
Afterwards, we'll visit Poland's only desert: Błędów. This 6-mile (10-kilometre) long stretch of land was formed by a glacier that melted thousands of years ago. Don't forget your camera!
Kalwaria Zebrzydowska & Wadowice (6 hours)
We'll travel to the monastery complex of Kalwaria Zebrzydowska, a truly unique place that houses a Baroque basilica, small Mannerist chapels and a convent of Friars Minor. You'll love this UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is also located in a beautiful natural area and has drawn in thousands of pilgrims since its beginnings.
In addition, we'll visit Wadowice, the birthplace of Pope John Paul II. There, we'll see the Minor Basilica of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, in which we'll find the baptismal font of Karol Wojtyla. Afterwards, we'll pass by the Birthplace of John Paul II and, if you'd like, you can visit the museum inside.
