On this private tour of Kanawaza, you'll visit this city with an English-speaking guide just for you and travel back in time to Japan's Geishas and Samurais.

Kanazawa Private Tour

At the time indicated, we'll pick you up from your hotel or meet at the tourist information centre in Kanazawa to start this tour with a private guide.

Our first stop will be Kanazawa train station. Its unusual wooden entranceway is a perfect example of unique Japanese architecture. Then, we'll head to Omicho Market, which has been supplying the city with local produce since the Edo period. We'll see its fish, seafood, fruit and vegetable, and sweet treat stalls. Yummy!

Following this we'll travel to Higashi Chaya, famous for being the most popular geisha neighbourhood in Japan. We'll admire its traditional tea houses and stroll around its beautiful streets. Afterwards, we'll see Kanazawa Castle, built in the 16th century by Toshiee Maeda, founder of the Maeda clan. In the western part of the fort, you can find the Gyokusen’inmaru, a charming Japanese garden where the Maeda used to have tea celebrations.

Our next stop will be Oyama Shrine, a Shinto shrine that's also connected to the Maeda clan. From here, we'll head to the Kenrokuen Gardens, considered to be one of the top 3 most beautiful Japanese gardens in the country. We'll stroll around its lakes, paths and bridges, marvelling at the beauty of its plants and flowers. You'll love it!

Then, we'll walk to the district of Nagamachi, where the samurais used to live. Discover all about these Japanese warriors from the 12th to 19th century. It will be like travelling back in time.

Last but not least, our final stop will be the Nishi Chaya District. This is another world-famous geisha neighbourhood, full of 2-storey quaint wooden buildings and tea houses. At night time, you'll hear stringed instruments play traditional melodies in the streets here. How magical!

After around 8 hours, we'll take you back to the starting point. See you again soon!
