Half-Day Trip
We'll pick you up from your hotel in Kalambaka or Kastraki at the indicated time and set off for an exciting tour of Meteora.
As we pile into our transport for the day, our local tour assistant will share fascinating insights into the history of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. We'll slowly make our way up the rock formations as we learn about the first hermits and monks who laid the foundations that would flourish into the monastic community of Meteora.
Throughout our route, we'll visit all 6 monasteries. Along the way, our audio guide will offer insight into how these rocks formed here thousands of years ago. We'll also have the chance to enter three monasteries for a deeper understanding of the community and breathtaking panoramas of the town below.
Then, after an enriching 4 hours spent among the Monasteries of Meteora, we'll bring the activity to an end back at your hotel.
Half-Day Trip at Sunset
This tour option takes any visit to Meteora up a notch, as we explore the World Heritage Sight under the last rays of sunlight. Alongside a local tour assistant and a handy audio guide, we'll take a deep dive into Meteora's traditions, myths, and history.
First, we'll visit either the Agios Stefanos or Saint Nicholas monasteries. Then, we'll head to the Byzantine Church of the Virgin Mary in Kalabaka to marvel at its architecture, with intricate frescoes and decorative elements.
Next up, we'll explore the Hermetic Caves of Badova for an in-depth look into the life and practices of early Christian hermits. How did they live in these caves? We'll find out during our visit.
Then, our tour culminates with a magical stop on a cliff's edge where we'll contemplate an extraordinary sunset over Meteora. Get your cameras ready for what’s sure to be an unforgettable sunset!
After 4 hours of breathtaking views, we'll bring you back to your hotel.

A - Yes, please keep in mind that sleeveless shirts and shorts are not allowed within the monastery. If you are unable to bring a covering with you, you may borrow one at the entrance of the monastery, free of charge.
