On this 4-day safari around Kruger National Park, we'll tour the savannah in search of lions, elephants, zebras and other species that call the south of Africa home.

Description

Day 1: Johannesburg - Hazyview

Welcome to Johannesburg! At the scheduled time, we'll collect you from the airport or at your hotel and make our way towards the northeast part of the Republic of South Africa, very close to the border with Mozambique.

This journey, which will last around 4 hours, will take us to a lodge in Hazyview. Once at the accommodation, we'll enjoy a light lunch and then you'll able to get some rest in your bedroom.

That evening, we'll meet up again and make our way northwards, where we'll enjoy a beautiful sunset over the Kruger National Park. After admiring the setting sun, we'll return to the lodge for dinner and rest before the next day.

Day 2: Hazyview - Kruger Park - Hazyview

Today will be a very special day! After getting up early, we'll make our way to the most visited nature reserve in South Africa to begin an unforgettable sunrise safari around Kruger National Park. Under the light of dawn, we'll try and spot the Big Five of the African savannah: lions, leopards, rhinos, buffalos and elephants.

We'll bring this first safari to an end, which will last around 2 hours, at a nearby rest area. Here, we'll enjoy a warming picnic-style breakfast which will have been prepared back at the lodge. After eating, we'll continue the safari around Kruger Park by taking in the rivers and plains around this protected area.

This second tour around the park will be brought to an end at another rest area where you'll be able to go for a swim and grab some lunch at your own expense. After lunch, we'll finally return to the lodge in Hazyview, where you'll have the rest of the day to enjoy the swimming pool and the rest of the facilities that the accommodation offers.

Day 3: Hazyview - Drakensberg - Hazyview

After having breakfast at the hotel, we'll leave Hazyview behind to begin our tour around the outskirts of the Drakensberg mountains. The first stop will be at the God's Window Viewpoint, where if it's a clear day, we'll be able to enjoy views of Kruger Park.

We'll continue the tour at Bourke's Luck Potholes, a spectacular gorge that's found within the Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve. Did you know that this is the third-biggest canyon in the world?

From this stunning gorge, we'll continue our tour towards Lisbon Falls, a beautiful set of waterfalls that are sure to leave you speechless. Next, we'll head towards the nearby town of Graskop, where you'll be able to have some lunch.

Afterwards, we'll return to the lodge in Hazyview to rest for the rest of the day.

Day 4: Hazyview - Kruger Park - Hazyview - Johannesburg

We'll depart very early from the lodge to enjoy another sunrise safari around Kruger National Park. This way, if we couldn't see any of the animals on the second day, we'll have another chance now.

Once we've finished up, we'll make a stop to have some breakfast. Afterwards, we'll return to the lodge to collect our luggage. Once everything is ready, we'll begin our journey back to the airport in Johannesburg. We're expected to arrive back at around 5 or 6 pm. Safe travels!

Accommodation

This safari includes 3 nights of accommodation with breakfast at the Umbhaba Eco Lodge (3 stars) or another one of a similar category. Please keep in mind the listed prices are per person staying in a double bedroom.

Flights and Transfers

When booking your flights to Johannesburg, keep in mind that, on the first day of the safari, the pickup from O.R Tambo International Airport departs from the Shuttle and Bus Terminal from the arrivals area between 6:30 am and 7 am, with the final departure towards Hazyview at 7:15 am.

As a result, your flight into Johannesburg cannot be any later than 5 am. To avoid any inconveniences, the day before the safari, we recommend staying in Johannesburg. You'll have to arrange accommodation yourself for that night.

On the other hand, on the day of the safari, we can collect you between 6:30 am and 6:45 am from hotels and lodges located within 5km (3.1 miles) of Johannesburg Airport.

Finally, on the last day of the safari, we'll arrive in Johannesburg at around 5:30 pm - 6 pm. Upon arrival, we can drop you off at a hotel or lodge located within 5km (3.1 miles) of the airport. This way, if on the last day of the safari, you're flying out of Johannesburg, you won't have to book a national flight before 8 pm or an international flight before 9 pm.
