Day Trip Details
Want to discover an oasis in the middle of a semiarid landscape? If this is the case, we'll pick you up from your hotel in João Pessoa at the designated time and drive to the spot where we'll begin a 1.5-kilometre (0.93 miles) hike surrounded by nature. Let the adventure begin!
We'll walk along a hiking trail that will take us to the Paraíba riverbed, which crosses the caatinga, meaning 'white forest' in the indigenous Tupi language. Did you know that it is the only biome that's 100% Brazillian? Along the way, we'll stop at archaeological sites where the Tupi Indians settled and left records that can still be seen today. We’ll see red ink inscriptions that prove the existence of this tribe.
Once we reach the end of the trail, we'll find the majestic Pedra do Altar, an imposing rock found by waterfalls and natural ofurôs—small pools that form along the river’s course. Without a doubt, this spot in the heart of a semi-arid region will fascinate you.
After having some time to relax by the waterfalls and natural pools, we'll return along the same hiking trail until we reach the site's restaurant, where you'll have some free time to grab yourself some lunch if you wish.
After re-energising, we'll return to your hotel in João Pessoa, where we'll say our goodbyes 12 hours after pickup.
