Caatinga Paraíba 2-Day Hiking Tour
Tour Details
Day 1
At the designated time, we’ll pick you up from your hotel in João Pessoa to begin our journey, discovering the wonders of Brazilian nature in the unique landscapes of the Caatinga. Did you know it’s a biome that can only be found in Brazil? This ecosystem features whitish vegetation and many native flora and fauna. Let's go!
After a 112-mile (180-kilometer) drive, we'll make our first stop at the Archeological Complex of Pedra do Altar, in Barra de Santana. Here, we'll prepare for a 0.9-mile (1.5-kilometer) hike to the Paraíba River.
Along the way, we'll stop at archeological sites where the Tapuia indigenous people once lived, leaving marks that can still be seen today. You'll also see calderas, natural pools, and idyllic waterfalls, making this complex a true oasis in the heart of the caatinga.
On our return journey, we'll stop for lunch at the archeological complex’s restaurant. Afterward, we'll head to the second destination of the day: Lajedo do Marinho, a landscape famous for its incredible rock formations shaped by nature over time. Enjoy the breathtaking views as the sun sets!
Here, we'll spend the night at a camping site, where we'll sleep in tents, light a bonfire, and enjoy the starry sky, far from any light pollution.
Day 2
On the second day of our trip, we'll start with an energizing breakfast before setting off on a 3.1-mile (5-kilometer) hike along the Trilha de Antonio Conselheiro.
During this hike, we'll continue exploring the unique rock formations and landscapes, passing by iconic landmarks such as Lajedo dos Esquecidos, Pedra do Hambúrguer, Pedra da Coxinha, and the Trono de Deus.
After completing the trail, we'll pause for lunch before packing up camp and heading back to João Pessoa.
We'll arrive at your hotel in João Pessoa around 6:30 p.m.
