Petra & Wadi Rum 2-Day Tour
Itinerary
Day 1: Jerusalem - Aqaba - Wadi Rum
At the indicated time we'll meet at the meeting point in Jerusalem or Tel Aviv, whichever you prefer. From there, we'll travel by bus to the port city of Aqaba across the border between Israel and Jordan. The journey will take approximately 4 hours.
We'll take a guided tour of Aqaba, taking in its narrow streets, mosques and souks. We'll also visit the Mamluk Castle, a 16th-century Ottoman fortress that offers a privileged view. You'll be able to admire Israel, Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia at a glance - photo time!
After some free time for lunch, we'll change our means of transport for a four-wheel drive tour of Wadi Rum. This desert, also known as the Valley of the Moon, is famous for having hosted the filming of several Star Wars movies. Whether you're a fan of the saga or not, its landscapes will amaze you.
Have you heard of the Seven Pillars of Wisdom? We'll see this incredible geological formation and many others, such as the Um Furth arch, as we travel through inhospitable landscapes where time seems to have stood still.
We'll end the day by arriving at the camp where we'll spend the night. There we'll enjoy an incredible sunset over the desert and recover our energy with a delicious dinner.
Day 2: Wadi Rum - Petra - Jerusalem
Good morning! On the second day, we'll wake up early, have breakfast and start our bus journey from Wadi Rum to Petra. If you wish, you can buy a small picnic so that you can have breakfast on board.
After 2.5 hours, we'll arrive at our destination, are you ready to discover the "Rose City"? Accompanied by our guide, we'll begin to explore the ancient Nabataean capital, a place that is more than 2,300 years old. It's undoubtedly the most important archaeological site in Jordan.
During the tour of Petra, we'll see impressive buildings carved into the rock and learn about the history of this World Heritage Site. We'll walk through the Siq Gorge, see different temples, visit the Tomb of the Obelisks, photograph the Petra Treasury or the Nabataean Theatre and marvel at many other constructions.
You'll have 2 hours of free in Petra, have lunch and finish the day with a 5 to 6-hour road trip back to Israel. Arrival at the departure points in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv is scheduled between 2 am and 3:15 am.
