Jerez de la Frontera Free Tour
Tour Details
We'll meet at the indicated time in the Plaza del Arenal, one of the most central points of Jerez de la Frontera. From here we'll start a free tour of this city full of monuments, orange trees, wine, and history.
The first stop is the Alcázar de Jerez. This fortification where kings and illustrious figures have stayed has a medieval past worth remembering. The guide will reveal the most interesting facts and stories that have developed within the walls of this defensive complex of Almohad origin.
We'll continue strolling through the streets of Jerez de la Frontera to visit the Cathedral, located in the Plaza de la Encarnación. The mixture of styles in this building makes it a church of great beauty.
As we continue our tour, we'll move on from the Cathedral until we reach the stately houses and palaces of the Plaza del Arroyo, but not before passing through some of the city's highlights, such as the Plaza de la Asunción and the Plaza de la Yerba. You'll see the Cabildo Viejo, the church of San Dionisio, the Town Hall, and other emblematic buildings.
The guide will then take us along Calle Consistorio to the small Chapel of the Señor de la Puerta Real, where we'll learn about the meaning of this unique place. Afterward, we'll talk about the Bullfighting and Cane Games and the Alcancía. We'll then reach the famous Gallo Azul building. Do you know why this curious name was given? We'll get to know all the details of this architectural symbol of Jerez.
After 2 hours of sightseeing, we'll finish the tour by saying goodbye in the centre of Jerez.
