Riko Winery Tour
Tour Details
Nestled in the heart of Alicante’s Marina Alta region, the town of Jalón boasts a rich winemaking tradition. Meet us at the entrance of Bodegas Riko, a renowned destination for wine enthusiasts, at the indicated time, and we'll set off on an adventure to discover this rich tradition.
Our journey begins with a visit to the vineyards of Bodegas Riko, where we’ll explore the winemaking roots of the region. We’ll discuss the distinctions between vine, vine stock, and vineyard while discovering the predominant grape varieties and the cultivation techniques unique to this part of Alicante.
Next, we’ll step inside the winery to uncover the history of this family-run business, which dates back to the early 20th century. During the tour, you’ll learn about the intricate winemaking process and venture into the cellar, where barrels and clay amphorae are used for aging the wines.
The experience culminates with a tasting of 5 wines: Tassolet de Xaló White, Renaix la Passió, Tassolet de Xaló Red, Renaix de Giró, and Giró Óscar Mestre. We’ll also sample 3 types of mistela, a local liqueur made by blending grape must and alcohol: mistela moscatel, mistela moscatel sobremadura, and mistela de Giró. For younger visitors, a grape juice variety will be provided as a non-alcoholic alternative.
To complement these drinks, we’ll enjoy a selection of local products, offering the perfect pairing to conclude this 2.5-hour experience.
