Pergamon Ruins Excursion
Pergamon Ruins Excursion
At 8 am on the morning of the tour, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Izmir. From there, we'll hop on a comfortable minibus for the ride to the Turkish province of Bergama.
After an hour and a half, we'll arrive at what was once the Greek city of Pergamon. Walking amongst the ruins, you'll discover some of the most fascinating places like its terraces, the acropolis, the temples built in honor of Greek and Roman gods and, of course, the famous Altar of Zeus. A journey back in time that will leave you speechless!
Our next stop will be at the Asclepeion of Pergamon. Dedicated to Asclepius, the god of medicine and healing, this was used as a healing temple. As you explore this ancient treatment center, you'll learn all about the healing techniques of the past.
The last visit of the day will be to the Archaeological Museum of Pergamon, where we'll see more of the remnants of the old city discovered in the area and continue learning about the history of this fascinating place.
Once we've worked up an appetite, we will take you to a local restaurant to enjoy a delicious buffet lunch, refueling with some of the most typical dishes of the area.
At the end of the tour, we'll make our way back to Izmir and you'll be taken back to your hotel, arriving around 5 pm.
