Join us as we fly to a city that became a major religious, cultural, and commercial center of the Roman Empire. Let's discover Ephesus!
Day Trip Details
After picking you up from your hotel in Istanbul, we'll head to the airport you have selected to board one of the first flights to Izmir, the third-largest city in Turkey. In about 60 minutes, we'll reach our destination.
Once we land, we'll hop on a vehicle that will take us to Ephesus. Our first stop will be the House of the Virgin Mary, the last residence believed to have been occupied by the mother of Jesus Christ. Why is this belief held? You'll find out! You'll be amazed by how well-preserved this building is, thanks to the restorations that have been undertaken.
Our visit will take us to the ruins of Ephesus, a city dedicated to Artemis, and the Odeon, where the Temple of Hadrian, the House of Love, the Library of Celso, the Agora of Smyrna, Marble Road, and the Theatre once stood. This huge open-air museum will take you back to when the Roman Empire controlled Europe.
After enjoying a buffet-style lunch, we'll head to the Temple of Artemis. Currently, only the ruins of this small building remain, built among trees in honor of the Roman goddess. Today, this monument is considered one of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World. At this famous site, we'll discuss the significance of this temple for the citizens of Ephesus.
You'll discover how there was a blend of cultures in this area, as evidenced by the construction of the Isa Bey Mosque, a religious building featuring an impressive marble facade.
Afterward, we'll drive back to the airport in Izmir to take a return flight back to Istanbul. Once we land, we'll drop you off at your hotel.
