Tour to the Taxila Ruins
Tour to the Taxila Ruins
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Islamabad to begin this excursion to one of Pakistan's World Heritage Sites!
Our first stop will be at the Taxila Museum, where we'll learn about the Gandhara civilization, which lived in this territory 2,000 years ago. In its rooms, we'll find ancient Buddhist handicrafts and sacred relics!
The next stop will be at the Dharmarajika Monastery and its stupa, one of the largest in South Asia. We'll tell you the history of this monastery that was built by King Ashoka to keep relics of Buddha.
Next, we'll see the ancient capital of Taxila, Sirkap, which has been only partially excavated. After seeing these archaeological ruins, we'll go to the Buddhist monastery of Jaulian, a prominent educational center that is still functioning today.
We'll see its stupa, the ruins of the ancient monastery, and the monument of the Healing Buddha, and learn about the importance of this place for the teaching of Buddhist monks.
After the visit to the archaeological site of Taxila, we'll return to Islamabad and drop you off at your hotel 8 hours after pickup.
