Islamabad Private Tour
Islamabad Private Tour
After picking you up from your hotel, we will begin our English language tour of Islamabad by heading to one of the iconic monuments of the Pakistani capital. The Faisal Mosque is considered to be one of the largest Islamic temples in the world. While visiting the interior of this worship center we will learn all about the origins of its construction, which like many of the buildings in the city dates back to the 1960s.
Next to the mosque, just at the foot of the Margalla hills, we will also see the mausoleum of General Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq. To appreciate the hills, and the elegant architecture of both the mosque and the mausoleum, we will go to the famous Daman e Kok viewpoint. From here, we will also see the urban network of the city's roads and buildings which are arranged into a gridlike framework. Our visit to this panoramic terrace will also allow us to see Lake Rawal from above and the skyscrapers of Islamabad's financial and commercial area known as the Blue Area.
We continue the route by heading towards Pir Sohawa. Located 5000 feet above sea level, bordering the peaks of the Margalla hills, this tourist resort located in the middle of nature has several viewpoints from where we will enjoy a different perspective of both Islamabad and its surroundings. This new angle of the city will help us to understand the history of modern Pakistan better. You will discover why, in the middle of the 20th century, the local authorities decided to create an entirely new megalopolis in the north of the country from nothing.
Still in Pir Sohawa, we will pause at the Monal Restaurant, so that you can have lunch on your own. This establishment opened in 2006 and is not just any normal eatery. Located on a dramatic mountain ledge, you can enjoy extraordinary views of the urban and natural landscapes that extend out from under our feet. Here, it is certainly worth tasting the local cuisine surrounded by such spectacular landscapes!
After eating, we will finally take you back to your hotel in Islamabad.
