Gibraltar Day Trip Itinerary

Your tour guide will pick you up from the meeting point you choose, and you'll set off towards Gibraltar, a free port that has been a British territory since the end of the 18th century. The Rock, as it is also known, has been a source of disputes between the United Kingdom and Spain ever since then, due in part to the strategic location of the promontory and the Strait that separates it from Africa.

Enjoy a minibus tour of the Rock of Gibraltar as well as a guided visit of St Michael's Cave, an extensive network of caves that have been carved from the limestone by water over thousands of years, and which have been used by military forces since the Middle Ages. Explore its different rock chambers, dodging the stalactites and stalagmites as you learn all about the history of the sieges and battles waged over the Rock.

Next, you'll make your way to Europa Point, a peaceful area at the southernmost point of Gibraltar, which offers impressive views over the surrounding area. To your right, there's the Port of Algeciras, and stretching out in front of you is the Strait of Gibraltar - on a clear day you'll be able to spot the Rif Mountains across the water in Morocco. Europa Point is also home to the Shrine of Our Lady of Europe and the Ibrahim-al-Ibrahim Mosque, a gift from the King of Saudi Arabia.

Embrace Gibraltar's nature next as you meet its famous monkeys, Barbary macaques which are the only species of primate to live in the wild in Europe. The legend goes that while the monkeys remain on the Rock, so will the British. The authorities therefore take special care of the creatures, which have become the popular mascot of the territory. After visiting Europa Point, you'll have free time on the "island" to eat in one of the many restaurants (not included), or to take advantage of its duty-free status by doing a spot of shopping.

At the end of your day trip, you'll make the return journey to Huelva, where you'll be dropped off at your hotel.
