3 or 4-Day Yanamono Forest Tour
3 or 4-Day Yanamono Forest Tour
Day 1: Iquitos - Yanamono Forest
Welcome to Iquitos! We'll pick you up at the airport and head to the port of Iquitos, where we'll board a boat that'll take us directly to the Yanamono Forest in the Amazon.
Once we arrive at the lodge where we'll spend the next three days, we'll drop off our luggage and then head to Isla de los Monos (Monkey Island), a rescue center where we'll discover how primates in a vulnerable state are cared for so that they can return to freedom after recovery.
After visiting the Monkey Island refuge, we'll return to the hotel for lunch. In the afternoon, we'll go on a hike through the Yanamono forest, where we'll learn about the great biodiversity of this part of the Amazon and, of course, take loads of photos!
At sunset, we'll do one of the area's most amazing activities: sail down the Amazon River at dusk! There's no better way to experience the tranquility of the forest at the end of the day and see much of the nocturnal fauna that inhabits the Peruvian jungle.
We'll end the excursion by returning to the hotel and resting until the next day.
Day 2: Yanamono Forest
We'll start the second day with an early morning bird watching tour. We'll have to get up early, but we assure you that it'll be worth it! During the tour, we'll spot the many species of birds that inhabit the Yanamono forest and learn all about their particularities.
Then, after returning to the hotel for breakfast, we'll visit a community of Indigenous Amazonian Peoples. There, we'll learn about the community's traditional lifestyle, culture, and handicrafts, as well as the hunting, fishing, and agricultural techniques they have maintained for centuries.
Afterward, we'll satisfy our appetite with a typical meal and go fishing in the Amazon River. To put the finishing touch on the day, we'll go in search of the Amazon's famous pink dolphins, a true spectacle of nature! Then, we'll return to the hotel and, before dinner, we'll take an evening stroll through the Yanamono forest.
The day will end with dinner at the hotel.
Day 3: Yanamono Forest - Iquitos
We'll have breakfast to start our last day in this part of the Amazon. First, we'll go on an excursion to discover one of the largest aquatic plants in the world and a true icon of the Peruvian Amazon: the famous Victoria Regia water lilies! To see these beauties up close, we'll take a boat to a lake full of these aquatic plants.
Following this unforgettable experience, we'll start our return trip to Iquitos where our 3-day tour comes to an end by taking you to the Iquitos airport.
4 Day Tour
At the time of booking, you can extend your Yanamono Forest experience to a 4-day tour. In this case, the fourth day will be dedicated to a canoe trip along the Amazon River.

In both the 3-day and 4-day tours, we'll stay at the Heliconia Amazon River Lodge resort with full board.
