Yanayacu River 3, 4 or 5-Day Tour
Yanayacu River 3, 4 or 5-Day Tour
Day 1
We'll pick you up from your hotel in Iquitos at 9 am. We hop on the minibus and head to the port, about 90 minutes away. There, a small boat will be waiting to take us to the lodge where we'll spend the next two nights. Then our adventure in the Yanayacu River can begin!
When we arrive, we'll leave our things in the cabin and enjoy a tasty buffet lunch. Afterward, we'll walk around to discover the area's humid flora.
Afterward, we'll enjoy the wonderful sight of the sun setting over an idyllic jungle lagoon. After this, we'll eat dinner so we're fully energized for the next activity. We'll take a night trip by boat to find exotic birds, curious mammals, and the infamous alligators!
Day 2
After breakfast, we'll get on a boat and sail down the river to an area inhabited by the amazing pink dolphins of the Yanayacu River. During the trip, we'll also see the famous Victoria Regia water plant, the largest in the world, and the friendly iguanas that are camouflaged around it.
Afterward, we'll have lunch at the lodge and you can choose to fish for piranhas in the Corriente and Purura lagoons. Later, we'll visit the community of San Juan de Yanayacu, where we'll learn about their customs and traditions and have dinner in the cabins before heading out to look for tarantulas and giant frogs.
Day 3
After enjoying the last breakfast of tasty Peruvian delicacies, we'll board a boat and head to the Sapote lagoon, where we'll observe different birds moving around the banks. Then we'll go to the Moena lagoon, where we'll see the nice sloth bears that live with the monkeys.
After that, we'll return to the camp for lunch before sailing back to Iquitos. Once in the port of the city, the bus will pick us up to take us to our destination. We'll drop you off at your hotel or at the airport from 4 pm onwards.
4-day Tour
If you choose this option, we'll follow the same itinerary as the 3-day tour. The afternoon of the third day will be dedicated to a guided tour about botany, learning about the different properties of plants.
On the fourth day, we'll sail to the Casha Lagoon, a tour that will introduce us to more species of birds and monkeys. After this last trip on the Yanayacu River, we'll enjoy a tasty buffet lunch before returning to Iquitos to drop you off at your hotel or the airport.
5-day Tour
This 5-day tour includes the same activities as the previous options. Your itinerary also includes the sighting of the Hoatzin or shansho bird, white monkey and the howler monkey, and also a fantastic trip to the Juanachi lagoon.
Accommodation
This tour includes 2, 3, or 4 nights full board accommodation in a double room at Muyuna Amazon Lodge. The camp rooms have a private bathroom and a terrace with hammocks in front of the river.
Flight Times
If your flight time doesn't coincide with the timetable indicated, we can adapt the timetable to pick you up on your arrival by adding a supplement for late pick up. Travelling during daylight so you can see the river is preferable, so the latest departure time would be 3 pm.
