Want to explore the Peruvian Amazon? Join us on this 2, 3, 4, or 5-day tour along the Momon River from Iquitos, offering an opportunity to uncover the natural wonders and indigenous communities in the heart of the Amazon rainforest.

Description

Day 1

Welcome to the Peruvian Amazon! We'll collect you at 9 am from your hotel in Iquitos or the airport and then set out for the city's river port. Our remarkable adventure will start here with an unforgettable boat journey along the Amazon, the world's largest river.

During this approximately 3-hour voyage, we'll make our first stop at a nature reserve to witness the Victoria Regia, the Amazon's largest ornamental plant. Next, we'll continue our journey to an animal sanctuary, where you'll encounter anacondas, boas, toucans, and monkeys.

Continuing on the Nanay riverbed, we'll embark on the Momon River and arrive at a riverside camp where we'll spend the night. Upon arrival, a delectable lunch will be served at the lodge. After regaining our energy, we'll embark on a jungle trek to meet the Boras tribe.

To conclude the day's activities, we'll return to the camp for dinner. Following dinner, we'll embark on a short night hike to observe the nocturnal birds of the Peruvian Amazon before retiring to the lodge for the night.

Day 2

At the break of dawn, we'll partake in a captivating bird-watching tour. Afterward, we'll return to the camp for breakfast and set off to explore the Nanay, Amazon, and Itaya rivers.

During our journey, we'll stop at a local community in the area to marvel at a towering 70-meter (230-foot) sequoia tree. Following this tree's exploration, we'll navigate upstream on the Momon River back to the campsite, where a delightful lunch will be served. After lunch, we'll try some piranha fishing near the lodge.

To wrap up your Amazon adventure, we'll transfer you to your hotel in Iquitos or the airport, whichever suits you best. Please note that we'll reach the city around 5 pm.

3-Day Tour

Should you select the 3-day option, the first two days will follow the same itinerary as in the previous section. The only difference is that on the evening of the second day, after piranha fishing, we'll return to the camp for dinner and to rest.

On the third day, we'll begin bird-watching at daybreak, followed by breakfast at the camp. We'll then sail downstream on the Momon River to the community of Padrecocha, where we'll visit its renowned butterfly farm.

Around noon, we'll return to the camp for lunch. Following lunch, depending on weather conditions, we'll embark on a kayaking excursion on the Momon River or visit the indigenous community of San Andres.

We'll eventually make our way back to Iquitos, reaching the city around 5 pm. We'll drop you off either at your hotel or the airport.

4-Day Tour + Excursion to Belen

For this option, the first 3-days of this tour follow the same itinerary as the previous tour. On the afternoon of the third day, following the kayak tour on the Momon River, we'll return to the lodge for dinner and to rest.

On the fourth day, we'll have breakfast at the camp and navigate the Momon, Nanay, Amazon, and Itaya rivers to Belen, often referred to as the Amazonian Venice.

After exploring the canals of Belen, we'll voyage back down the Momon River to the campsite, where we'll enjoy lunch. Afterwards, we'll visit the indigenous community of San Andres. From there, we'll embark on our return journey to the river dock in Iquitos, anticipating arrival in the city around 5 pm. We'll then take you back to your hotel or the airport.

4-Day Tour + Iquitos Tour

We'll follow the same itinerary from the prior section. On the fourth day, after breakfast at the camp, we'll sail to the Bellavista port. Upon arrival, we'll do a complete sightseeing tour of Iquitos, combining both a walking and a bus tour.

Our exploration begins at the Plaza de Armas, where we'll visit the Casa de Hierro, an architectural marvel designed by Gustave Eiffel. We'll proceed to the Amazon Museum to delve into the history of Amazonian ethnic groups, then venture to the floating market in the Belen neighborhood.

Leaving Iquitos behind, we'll journey to the town of Quistococha, visiting a conservation center dedicated to rescued Amazonian species. Following a local restaurant lunch, we'll return to Iquitos by approximately 5 pm. We'll transfer you to your hotel or the airport.

5-Day Tour

This 5-day tour is the most comprehensive of all the options. The first three days align with the activities from the 3-day tour. On the fourth day, we'll enjoy the excursion to Belen as previously described. On the fifth and final day, we'll embark on the Iquitos tour outlined in the prior section.

During your stay, you'll be staying at the Amazon Camp Lodge, including buffet-style breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The camp is situated along the banks of the Momon River, offering comfortable rooms with private bathrooms.
