Amazon & Marañon Rivers 5-Day Luxury Cruise

The itinerary for the cruise will vary depending on the time of year you're joining us. 

December to May

Day 1: Iquitos - Amazon River

Once we've picked you up from the airport or your hotel, we'll take you to the Hilton Iquitos. Our luxury experience will begin with a tasty welcome lunch. We'll then take you to the main port in Iquitos so you can board the boat and set sail on our cruise on the Amazon and Marañon Rivers. All aboard!

Day 2: Yanayacu de Yacapana Reserve - Marañon River - Community of Puerto Prado - Nauta Caño

Our first boat trip will be to the confluence of the two rivers, where we'll also see the pink dolphins of the Yanayacu de Yacapana Reserve. Back on the boat, you can fuel up for the day with breakfast and spend the morning enjoying all the comforts of the cruise.

In the afternoon, we'll take a walk through the jungle to try to spot endemic species of fauna. We'll also visit the Indigenous community of Puerto Prado and learn about their customs and traditions.

We'll then return to the boat for a dinner accompanied by live music. This will be followed by a night excursion to discover the nature of Nauta Caño, a reserve on the banks of the river.

Day 3: Japón Lagoon - Pacaya Samiria Reserve

Good morning! We'll set off to the Japón Lagoon by boat and begin our day with a picnic breakfast. Next, we'll visit the Pacaya Samiria Reserve, one of the most outstanding protected areas of the Peruvian Amazon, and go kayaking.

After we've had lunch, we'll hike across hanging bridges and then hop back on the cruise ship to attend a Peruvian cocktail demonstration before dinner.

Day 4: San Regis - Shiriyacu

On the fourth day, we'll have breakfast on the boat and then go on a trip to the community of San Regis. When we get there, a shaman will show us their ancestral traditions and we'll attend a tree-planting ceremony. We'll also visit their handicraft market.

After lunch, we'll head to Shiriyacu by boat and try our hand at some piranha fishing. We'll then return to the cruise ship to watch a beautiful sunset. Our last night will also feature a live music show.

Day 5: Nauta - Iquitos

Doesn't the time fly when you're having fun? On our final day we'll disembark in Nauta, which is the second most important city in the region. After visiting the local market and learning some fun facts about the city, we'll head to Iquitos. On the way there, we'll make a stop at a manatee rescue centre.

Once we're back in Iquitos, we'll take you to the airport or the hotel you've booked for the rest of your stay.

June to November

From June to November, the water level of the rivers and lagoons is lower. The itinerary will have the following changes to account for this:

• Day 1: after lunch, we'll head to Nauta from Iquitos to board the boat from its port.
• Day 3: we won't visit the Japón Lagoon in the morning. Instead, we'll take a boat ride in the Yanayacu River in Pucate and learn some local piranha fishing techniques. We'll have lunch on the boat and then attend a talk on Amazonian philosophy before the evening's activities.
• Day 4: we'll go on a boat tour of the Samiria River and have a tasty picnic breakfast. The Peruvian cocktail demonstration will take place on this day before lunch. We'll visit the San Regis community in the afternoon.

Accommodation

The tour includes 4 nights' accommodation aboard a luxury cruise ship with full board in a suite of your chosen category.

The Zafiro cruise ship has two decks. Its rooms are equipped with all the necessary comforts to make your stay unforgettable: a private bathroom with a shower and amenities, comfortable beds, cotton sheets, bathrobes and air conditioning. The suites have panoramic windows through which you can gaze out at beautiful views of the Amazon.

• Suite on the first deck: 226-square-foot (21-square-metre) suite with a convertible double or California king bed.
• Suite on the second deck: 226-square-foot (21-square-metre) suite with a convertible double or California king bed and a private balcony.
• Master Suite: 247-square-foot (23-square-metre) suit on the first deck. Convertible double or king California bed.
• Zafiro Suite: 484-square-foot (45-square-metre) suite on the second deck. Convertible double or king California bed, private balcony, jacuzzi-style bathtub and a sofa bed.
