Join this tour and discover the customs and traditions of the indigenous Amazonian communities by boat from Iquitos. You'll sail on the Amazon and Itaya rivers and learn all about their flora and fauna.
Highlights
At the scheduled time the group will meet at the pier in Iquitos, where we'll board a traditional boat that will then take us to visit the indigenous communities of the Amazon. It will be an unforgettable journey!
We'll journey along the Itaya River and enjoy the incredible views of the exuberant nature that surrounds us. In addition, we'll also learn about all the particularities of the jungle landscape that is so characteristic of this part of South America.
After reaching the confluence of the Amazon and Itaya Rivers, we'll enter the heart of the Amazon jungle. For this, we'll navigate down the Nanay River, where we'll visit the Bora and Kukama communities. We'll disembark and share an experience with the members of these tribes as we learn about their customs and traditions.
We'll continue our boat journey through the Amazon by travelling along the shore, of the Padre Cocha community, where we'll have the chance to stop again to visit the Pilpintuwasi butterfly farm, the perfect location to observe the great variety of butterflies and exotic animals that call the jungle their home.
Finally, we'll make our way back to the pier in Iquitos, where the tour will end after 5 hours.
Tour including pickup and lunch
If you want to maximise this experience, we recommend that you select the option that includes pickup and lunch. In this case, you'll be collected from your hotel in Iquitos and, after, we'll take part in the aforementioned tour and visit the butterfly farm. Moreover, this option includes lunch in a restaurant.
There is also another option, although it doesn't include pickup, it offers a lunch service while on the boat consisting of Peruvian juane and drinks.
