Las Lajas Sanctuary & Tulcán Excursion
We'll meet at 10 am at Parque Santander in the Colombian town of Ipiales. From here, we'll head towards one of the great pilgrimage temples in the south of the country, the Las Lajas Sanctuary, also known as the National Shrine Basilica of Our Lady of Las Lajas or Las Lajas Shrine.
Upon arrival, we'll go on a tour of this well-known sacred space, visiting its museum and the rest of its facilities. We'll also admire the prized altar of Our Lady of Las Lajas and learn the history of the so-called 'Miracle of God over the Abyss.'
We'll continue our visit to Las Lajas by going up in the sanctuary's cable car. In the cabins of this popular means of transportation, we'll take in beautiful views of the Guaitara canyon, landscapes that are sure to leave you speechless.
After the guided tour of the sanctuary of Las Lajas, we'll return to Ipiales, where we'll stop at a local restaurant for a delicious traditional lunch. The menu includes lapingacho, a typical dish of the Andean region consisting of grilled meat with Spanish omelette and cheese.
After lunch, we'll leave Ipiales behind and cross the border into Ecuador to visit the most emblematic points of the city of Tulcán.
Finally, after approximately 30 minutes of free time in the city's commercial area, we'll return to the meeting point where arrival is scheduled for 6 pm.
