If you're looking to explore the breathtaking landscapes of the Scottish cliffs, this tour along the Moray Firth Coast is an absolute must. Get ready to discover the charming towns of Portnockie and Cullen, the Troup Head Nature Reserve, and even indulge in a whisky distillery experience.
Description
We'll meet at number 19 Union Street in Inverness at the designated time and leave behind the Highlands capital as we set off towards the Moray Firth, a journey that will showcase the wild beauty of Scotland.
Our first stop will be the historic village of Findhorn, located near the Moray Firth. Upon arrival in this charming town, we'll take a leisure stroll along its beach, a perfect way to get a first taste of Scotland's rugged coastal landscapes.
From there, we'll travel to Portknockie, where one of the most beautiful sights of the entire route awaits us: the spectacular natural arch known as Bow Fiddle Rock. Continuing our excursion, we'll make our way to the town of Cullen, the birthplace of the famous Cullen Skink soup. You'll have some free time to explore the town and savor this specialty in one of its traditional restaurants.
With our appetites satisfied, we'll regroup and head to the Troup Head Nature Reserve, home to seabirds such as puffins. Here, we'll admire the awe-inspiring cliffs, one of the most photographed areas along the Moray Firth coast.
Next stop? The Speyside whisky distillery, where we'll witness the production process of one of Scotland's most famous beverages and enjoy a whisky tasting. You'll become true connoisseurs! Before returning to Inverness, we'll visit the village of Carrbridge, famous for its stone bridge, the oldest in the Highlands.
Finally, we'll make our way back to the starting point, concluding the excursion after 12 hours of exploration. It'll be an unforgettable journey filled with stunning sights and immersive experiences.
Puffin sightings
Puffins are fairly unpredictable creatures, so we can't promise a sighting. The chances of spotting them depend on various natural and weather-related factors.
Itinerary Changes
In August and September, the tour itinerary will change, and we won't visit Troup Head. Instead, we'll visit but will instead visit Spey Bay, a stunning coastal reserve with the largest shingle beach in Scotland and an excellent place to observe a variety of wildlife, including dolphins. Additionally, we'll see Aberlour, a picturesque village in Speyside on the banks of the River Spey.
