Interlaken Waterfalls Day Trip
Day Trip Details
Our adventure will begin at the indicated time as we meet at Höheweg 91-95, where we'll hop on a minibus that will take us into the breathtaking Lauterbrunnen Valley, home to an incredible 72 waterfalls. Our guide will introduce us to the highlights of each location we stop at before giving us time to explore them at our own pace.
Our first stop will be at the magnificent Staubbach Falls, one of Switzerland’s tallest waterfalls, plunging nearly 300 metres (984 feet) from a dramatic cliff. In the warmer months, the wind turns this waterfall into a swirling cascade, spreading mist into the air like water dust—hence the name, as 'staub' means ‘dust’ in German.
Then, we’ll move on to the awe-inspiring Trümmelbach Falls. Hidden inside the mountain, these 10 waterfalls are unlike anything else in Europe, carrying up to 20,000 litres (5,283 gallons) of water per second from the glaciers of the mighty Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau mountains.
This UNESCO World Heritage site offers a rare glimpse into the raw power of nature, and you can explore it via a tunnel lift. Here, you’ll have some free time to grab a bite to eat at the self-service restaurant or head inside to admire the waterfalls.
Next, we’ll head to the serene Lake Brienz for a 40-minute drive around its perimeter to admire its famous turquoise waters. As we drive around the lake, we'll make a stop to snap some stunning photos, so don't forget your camera!
Our journey will then continue to Giessbach Nature Park, where the mesmerising Giessbach Falls awaits. Watch as the water tumbles down 14 steps into the shimmering waters of Lake Brienz.
Top tip: you can walk behind this spectacular waterfall for a truly unique view. If you fancy, you can hop aboard the Giessbach Funicular, Europe’s oldest funicular, and ride it up to the historic Grand Hotel Giessbach, where you can relax and get a snack.
As we make our way back to Interlaken, we’ll drive along the stunning shores of Lake Brienz, and back through charming villages and the picturesque valley. Our journey will come to an end 6 hours after pickup.
