Explore Indianapolis' Haunted History

Welcome to Indianapolis, home of the Indy 500—the world's largest single-day racing event! This vibrant city is known for its high-octane thrills, but lurking beneath is a dark past not many know about. Join us on a ghost tour through Indianapolis, where we’ll explore the city's most haunted locations.

At the indicated time, we'll meet at the Indiana Repertory Theatre and set off on a walking tour of the capital city's most spooky haunts. Along the way, we’ll visit several chilling stops, each with its own unsettling ghost story—like the theater itself! We'll kick off our tour with ghost stories surrounding this historic theater from our local guide.

With our hairs on end, we'll head over to our first stop, the former apartment of Dr. Helene Knabe. This unassuming building hides a gruesome past, as it was the site of her brutal murder—a crime that remains unsolved to this day. Throughout the tour, we'll learn the chilling details of the good doctor and the events that led to her untimely demise.

From here, we'll head over to the Indianapolis Athletic Club, a centennial building originally constructed to promote socializing among the city's most affluent. We'll find out what tragic events led to its becoming haunted.

Throughout the route, our guide will also share many other spooky tales about the town's historical figures. We'll learn about the eerie curse of William Henry Harrison, the 9th U.S. President, who died suddenly one month after taking office. What ties did William Henry Harrison have with Indianapolis? We'll find out!

Following a spine-tingling hour strolling Indianapolis' most haunted sites, we'll bring the tour to an end back at the meeting point.
