Diving at Ilhabela Shipwrecks
Diving at Ilhabela Shipwrecks
The coasts of Ilhabela are a real paradise for not only diving enthusiasts, but also for history lovers. We'll meet at a time of your choice at the diving school on Avenida Riachuelo. to discover why this Brazilian island is the ideal destination if you like to dive both into the past as well as into the water!
After putting on our scuba diving gear and oxygen tanks, we'll dive into the waters of Ilhabela accompanied by a professional snorkeling instructor. We'll swim among the wreckage of ships that sunk decades ago, including the Aymoré, a cargo ship that ended up at the bottom of the sea after being caught in a storm in 1920.
We'll also find the wreckage of the English ocean liner, Velazquez, which became stuck and then proceeded to sink with 137 crew members aboard. Luckily though, all of them managed to survive – crazy! We'll also see how some aquatic species, such as crustaceans or sea sponges, have now inhabited the remains of these wrecks.
Finally, after 4 hours of exploring this underwater world, we'll return to the surface and conclude the activity.
