Ilhéus + Cocoa Farm Tour
Ilhéus + Cocoa Farm Tour
We'll pick you up at your hotel at 8:30 am and head north, leaving Ilhéus behind and entering the region of Banco de Pedra.
The first stop on the itinerary will be at the Capela Velha farm, specialises in cocoa production. We'll visit this farm for two hours, during which we'll learn how the cabruca, a very popular cultivation system in the state of Bahia, works. We'll also see how they transform the raw material into one of the most appreciated foods in the world: chocolate.
During the visit you'll have the opportunity to taste the products made with cocoa from the farm, such as juice, honey, liqueurs, and of course, delicious chocolate of different types, ideal for those with a sweet tooth!
Afterwards, we'll return to Ilhéus, where we'll take a tour to learn more about its history and traditions. We'll pass by its most outstanding churches, such as the church of São Jorge dos Ilhéus, the oldest in the city, or the cathedral of São Sebastião.
Afterwards, we'll head to Praia dos Milionários, where we'll have a break for lunch on your own and try the local gastronomy - their speciality is fish!
We'll continue the tour at the handicraft market, where you can admire authentic works of art, and then we'll discover the life of the writer Jorge Amado at the Casa de Cultura. We'll learn more about this writer by visiting two establishments mentioned in his works: the Bataclan cabaret and its memorial Maria Machadão and the Vesúvio bar.
We'll end the tour by taking you back to your hotel, where we'll drop you off at around 3:30 pm.
