Guided Walking Tour of Iglesias
At your selected time, we'll meet in Piazza Quintino Sella. From this point we'll begin our walking tour of Iglesias, ready to learn all about its history and admire its main monuments.
We'll start the guided tour of Iglesias revealing some historical curiosities of this medieval town. We'll talk about its mining past and discover the role played by the town played when Sardinia was part of the Kingdom of Spain.
We'll walk past the medieval walls and towers of Iglesias until we arrive in front of the Castle of Salvaterra, whose origins date back to the 13th century. Afterwards, we'll go back into the city centre to admire the façades of its main churches. Did you know the town's name means Churches in Spanish? We'll see the Church of San Domenico, the Church of La Purísima, the Church of San Marcello, the Cathedral of Santa Clara and many other parish churches from different periods.
Along the route, we'll also see art deco buildings like the Electra Theatre as well as important monuments commemorating the fallen soldiers of the First World War.
After a two-hour tour of Iglesias, we'll end our visit in Piazza Guglielmo Oberdan.
