La Caravedo Distillery Tour
We'll meet at the time of your choice at the entrance of Hacienda La Caravedo, where we'll start the guided tour of one of the oldest distilleries in Latin America. Did you know that its origins date back to 1634?
We'll start the tour of La Caravedo by visiting the cultivation area. There we'll see the different Pisco vines, where we'll distinguish its eight varieties: Quebranta, Acholado, Torontel, Albilla, Moscatel, Mollar, Italia and Negra Criolla.
We'll then visit the original facilities dating back to 1684. The wine press, the press and the falcas are particularly noteworthy. All this machinery was indispensable for making pisco in a completely artisanal way. Today, the La Caravedo distillery is one of the most modern in Peru.
At the end of the guided tour, we'll enjoy a pisco tasting, which will vary depending on the type of tour you book.
Options
When you make your reservation, you can choose one of the following three types of tastings. Regardless of the option you choose, children from 5 to 12 years old will always have a juice and a biscuit.
Basic tasting (35 minutes)
If you choose this option, after the guided tour of the La Caravedo distillery, you'll enjoy a tasting of a pisco made on the estate.
Classic tasting (1 hour)
In this case, you'll enjoy a tasting of two pisco and a can of chilcano soft drink.
Premium tasting (2.5 hours)
This option, the most exclusive of all, includes a tasting of six piscos accompanied by a tasting of appetizers and a chilcano soft drink. You'll also receive a certificate of participation and a glass screen-printed by Johnny Schuler, the CEO of La Caravedo.
Visit the hacienda
If in addition to visiting the distillery you would also like to visit the other facilities of the complex, you can opt for this visit to the hacienda de La Caravedo. This activity includes the tasting of piscos.
