Combeima Canyon & Casa Loma Hiking Tour
We'll meet at Carrera 6 at 9 am and head for the Combeima Canyon, located in the Parque Nacional de los Nevados.
After a road trip of about 20 minutes, we'll arrive at the village of Pastales, where we'll take the Piedra Alta trail. From this point we'll begin an uphill walk of 3.7 kilometres (2.2 miles), and then walk downhill on a bridle path for another 2.5 kilometres (1.5 miles). The route will be of medium intensity, so make sure you're in good shape!
During the hike we'll enjoy the green landscapes of the Combeima Canyon, crossed by streams and gorges. At the halfway point we'll arrive at Casa Loma, a rural estate where we'll enjoy the best views of the Nevado del Tolima, surrounded by forests of wax palms, the most typical trees of the region. This area is known as Valle Escondido (Hidden Valley).
We'll also take the opportunity to listen to some of the local myths, as these magical lands are full of many stories of heroes and divinities. We'll learn about the legend of Ibamaca or Ibanasca, a princess of the Pijao tribe who lived in this territory and was captured by the Spanish Holy Inquisition.
At the end of the route, the bus will be waiting to take you back to the departure point in Ibagué. Arrival is scheduled for 12 pm.
