Explore Huelva's fascinating history and vibrant city center on this guided tour, where the Reina Victoria neighborhood, Hotel Colón, Gran Teatro, Mora Claros Palace, and many other iconic sites take center stage.

Description

We'll meet at the scheduled time beside the Caseta del Guarda and set off on our guided tour of Huelva. Ready to delve into the city's rich history?

Our journey begins with a leisurely stroll through the Reina Victoria neighborhood, an area of British origin designated a Cultural Heritage Site. We'll take a look at the eclectic appearance of its houses and tell you all about the Anglo-Saxon immigrants who settled in these lands during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The British legacy is sure to surprise you!

The route will take us to the historic Hotel Colón, built on the occasion of the 4th centenary of the Discovery of America. This building was much frequented by the British company's executives as it was, at that time, one of the few accommodations that had electricity and hot water. Did you know that it was considered one of the most luxurious accommodations in Europe?

After our visit to the present-day Casa Colón, we'll reach Huelva's charming old town. We'll meander through the San Francisco seaside district, passing by the monument to the Virgen del Rocío, the City Hall, and the Gran Teatro, and discover the spots that were hubs for the local bourgeoisie.

Moreover, we'll venture inside the enchanting Mora Claros Palace, celebrated for its ornate wrought iron railings and decor adorned with tiles and stained glass. It's undoubtedly one of the most impressive modernist buildings in Huelva and a symbol of the city's economic prosperity. Did you know that one of the city's mayors lived here?

Naturally, our tour includes a visit to the historic Riotinto mineral wharf, an iconic Huelva landmark that stands as the quintessential example of 19th-century industrial architecture. You'll gain insight into its history while savoring panoramic views of the Odiel River.

Following our 2-hour and 15-minute exploration, our guided tour concludes beside the Riotinto pier.

Itinerary changes

For participants taking the tour on Sundays, please note that we won't be able to access the interior of Hotel Colón or the Mora Claros Palace, as these sites are closed to the public on Sundays.
