Oaxaca 2 Day Tour

Day 1: Huatulco - Oaxaca

We'll pick you up at 6 am at your hotel in Huatulco and head to Jalapa del Marqués, where we'll stop for breakfast. Afterwards, we'll take the Mezcal Route, visiting some of the most beautiful places including Santiago Matatlán and San Jerónimo Tlacochahuaya. During a 2 hour tour, we'll learn everything about this drink and its production.

Then we'll go into the archaeological site of Mitla, where we'll find old houses, funeral temples and spaces for Mixtec rituals. We'll then go to see the traditional rugs and blankets from Teotitlán del Valle and the Santa María del Tule millenary tree, which is over 2000 years old!

At 3:30 pm, we'll arrive in Oaxaca City, and visit the baroque building of Santo Domingo de Guzmán as well as its annexed museum. Finally, we'll leave you at the hotel and you'll have the rest of the day free.

Day 2: Oaxaca - Huatulco

At 8 am, we'll leave the hotel to head to Monte Albán archaeological zone to explore the traces of what was once the capital of the Zapotec people. After this interesting visit, we'll return to Oaxaca to enjoy the bustle of the Benito Juárez handicraft market

Afterwards, we'll head towards the municipality of San Bartolo Coyotepec, known for its black clay figures. Then we'll take you to San Antonio Arrazola or San Martin Tilcajete to learn all about the making of alebrijes, a type of handicraft originating in Mexico that is characterized by its vibrant colours.

At 4 pm, we'll stop in San José del Pacífico to have lunch on your own. With our batteries charged, we'll follow the road to Huatulco, where the arrival is scheduled for 8 pm.

This tour includes 1 night's accommodation in a double room in one of the following 3 or 4 star hotels: Hotel Gala, Oaxaca Real, Hostal La Noria or similar.
