Huatulco Mezcal Tour
Huatulco Mezcal Tour
“Para todo mal, mezcal, y para todo bien, también.” This famous Mexican saying celebrates mezcal for all times good and bad. To find out the reason behind this popular expression, we'll pick you up at 9 am at your hotel in Huatulco and head north.
After a 40-minute drive, we'll arrive in Santa María Huatulco. On the outskirts of this Oaxacan town, we'll visit an agave field where we'll learn how the plant that produces mezcal is cultivated. We'll also discover the origins of this Mexican distillate, which has become one of the country's most popular beverages.
We'll continue our hike up to Loma Bonita, where we'll be able to see the extensive valley where the agave plants grow. As we'll see, the climatic conditions in the state of Oaxaca are very favorable for this type of crop.
After taking in the views, we'll head to the palenque, the place where the distillates are made. There, we'll do a tasting of Oaxacan mezcals, trying both traditional and medicinal varieties.
Following the tasting, we'll have a lunch consisting of beans, white rice, and black and red mole with a portion of chicken, a choice of leg or thigh. For a beverage, coffee or fruit-flavored water is included, depending on your preference.
After lunch, we'll return to your hotel in Huatulco, where we'll arrive at 2 pm.
